Overview

Established September of 1975 by Resolution #75-188. Duties: To act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and the County Library Director regarding Library operations and services, common needs of the Library system, recommend, study, and review long-range plans and programs of the Library. Reviews budget programs and makes budget recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.

What is the Library Advisory Board?

The Lake County Library Advisory Board is a group of five Lake County Residents, one from each supervisorial district.

Selected by the Board of Supervisors for two-year terms, their task is to assure accountability of, and advocacy for, the Lake County Library system.

What does the Library Advisory Board do?

• They work to become familiar with library needs and services throughout Lake County.
• They study the effectiveness of current library programs and recommend new ones.
• They act as a communication tool, maintaining contact with local and state-level library organizations and with library patrons in their district.
• They assist the library in publicizing its services and generating higher levels of public support.
