Residents of Lake County can now receive important, official information directly from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department via Nixle. Messages will be delivered by email, SMS/text message, and over the world wide web.

Notifications may include information about road closures, missing persons, crime alerts, and other information of public concern. 
 
Information can be received online and via e-mail for free. Residents receive messages by phone as part of their text messaging plan (otherwise standard text message rates apply)

The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) Program gives an added level of protection for crime victims by providing access to timely and accurate information on offenders in our county, and throughout the state. VINE can be accessed  24 hours a day, either by telephone or the Internet. Citizens can also register to be automatically notified when an offender is released or transfered.
