Explorer Competition Briefing

Young people who meet the minimum qualifications and are interested in becoming Sheriff’s Explorers will experience various opportunities in the development of personal character, life skills, leadership skills, career opportunities, and learning how to serve the public. Sheriff’s Explorers will learn skills relating to general public service, crime prevention, law enforcement, traffic control, basic criminal investigations, communications, and public speaking. Once the appropriate training standards have been met, Sheriff’s Explorers can participate in “ride-a-longs” with Sheriff’s Deputies. Sheriff’s Explorers will also participate in structured competition events with Explorer Posts from other law enforcement agencies.

Anyone interested in becoming an Explorer with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office should contact Detective John Drewrey at 707-262-4223, Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, or by email at jwd@co.lake.ca.us.
