The mailing address for the Lake County Jail is

Incoming mail must include the sender’s name, a complete return address, and the inmate’s full name with the facility address. All mail must be mailed through the U.S. Postal service. No mail will be forwarded to inmates released from the facility.
Books, Newspapers, Magazines
Books, newspapers or magazines must be mailed directly from the publisher. Only soft cover books are accepted into the facility.
Only cashiers checks or money orders will be accepted for the inmate’s books to be credited. Currency will not be accepted by mail. Money orders must include the sender’s name and address, and be signed by the sender on the front of the money order.
Items Not Permitted
In order to prevent contraband from getting into the facility, mail consisting of, or containing, any of the following will not be accepted. Any mail containing the following will either be returned to sender or placed in the inmate’s property:
- Polaroid photographs;
- Photos larger than 8X10;
- Pornographic material;
- Envelopes, stamps and stickers;
- Writing paper;
- Perfume scented letters;
- Letters marked with lipstick;
- Bodily fluids;
- Anything written with a felt marker, glitter pen, or crayon;
- Any other item determined to be contraband by facility staff.
