Deputy Mike Pascoe was voted Deputy of the Year. Deputy Pascoe kept the Personnel Resources Bureau afloat after I was assigned back to Patrol duties in February 2007.

Deputy Pascoe continued to actively and successfully recruit for Deputy Sheriff, Correctional Officer, Correctional Aide and Dispatcher positions by himself. Deputy Pascoe has the rare ability to positively identify with a wide array of people. Everyone that comes in contact with Deputy Pascoe feels as though they were treated special. I cannot count the times that I have received telephone calls and or made personal contacts with people who absolutely rave about him.

The people that have attended the CCW classes cannot say enough nice things about Deputy Pascoe. Very patient, very intelligent, humorous and humble are just some of the comments that I have heard about him.

Deputy Pascoe has even developed friendships with civilians that he has taught at the CCW classes. Deputy Pascoe often donates his own times to helping Department personnel and civilians with firearms training.

On Deputy Sheriff recruiting trips, Deputy Pascoe has even volunteered to help cadets already employed with other agencies with firearms training if they are having any problems. Deputy Pascoe always told potential deputy sheriff candidates, that it was "his goal to get them a job in law enforcement", if not with the Lake County Sheriff's Department, then somewhere else.

Deputy Pascoe always found the positive in things. When the Department was having morale issues Deputy Pascoe could always be found smiling and being positive. I believe Deputy Pascoe would actually give someone the shirt off his back if they really needed it. Deputy Pascoe is a pillar in the community and in the Department. I truly believe that Deputy Pascoe is largely responsible for the reduction in vacancies in this Department because of his infectious personality when he is recruiting, testing or interviewing applicants. I firmly believe that there is no one else in the Department that can effectively recruit personnel as Deputy Pascoe.
